Main Team Key Units Analysis

Meliodas
Meliodas’s main usage would be to inflict huge damage off his Outburst Counter skill that scales according to his diminished HP, this means that if you are able to get Meliodas to a low health and gets off a counter, he will chunk down King’s HP by a lot. Aside from that, Meliodas’s ultimate move can also remove King’s attack buffs in phase 1, allowing the team to take less damage from King.
MerlinMerlin’s main usage would be to take away King’s ultimate gauge when he’s about to ult the next turn. The barrier from her Perfect Cube also provides extra safety for the team as it can soak up some damage. When Merlin takes away the ultimate gauge the turn before King’s about to ult, King will only be left with 1 attacking card, this lowers the damage output of King by a huge amount and gives you time to set up ultimates and counters to finish king off.
ElaineElaine has 2 main usages. The first usage being that she is able to remove ultimate gauge on both her skills. Her first skill on rank 2 and 3 is able to remove a single target’s ultimate gauge if she successfully ranks down King’s skills while her second skill on rank 2 and 3 is able to AOE remove ultimate gauges. AOE removal is pretty important in Phase 1 as King’s defense and resistance increase by 10% when the Minion/Personas at the sides gain ultimate gauges, as for phase 2, King’s crit rate and crit damage increase 20% per ultimate gauge on the Minion/Personas. Her second usage as mentioned just now is that she can rank down King’s skills. Very often you will find King using rank 2 and rank 3 skills, to be able to rank that down helps to lessen the damage your team take by a lot. Her ultimate also works the same as Meliodas, therefore she is able to remove buffs from King in phase 1. Elaine’s unique/passive also gives her 15% HP-related stats, making her pretty self sustainable with the lifesteal and extra HP.
GowtherGowther is mainly used to rank up Meliodas’s counter. Aside from that, his ultimate can also be used to AOE lower the ult gauges of King and the Minion/Personas. If Gowther is used on the subslot, he will be used to tank King’s single target hits in phase 2 and rank up cards. As Gowther has high crit resistance, King will rarely be able to crit him, making him able to tank at least 3 hits and even more with Merlin’s barrier activated.
ElizabethElizabeth is used for healing, removing of attack buffs in phase 1 and cleansing of debuffs in phase 2. Her unique/passive allows her to get her ult fast and her ult fills 2 ultimate move gauges for all allies, increasing the damage output.
EscanorEscanor has high damage output on his first skill and his ultimate move, and the first skill allows him to he fill up his own ultimate gauge on rank 2 and 3. He is also able to remove buffs with his second skill on rank 2 and 3, with that he can take away King’s attack buffs in phase 1, helping to lower the damage output of King. With his unique/passive unlocked, he will be immune to debuffs and that will make him take less damage in phase 2. When paired with Elizabeth and Merlin, he is able to deal consistent damage with his ultimate.

Sub Units Analysis

JillianJillian is an excellent choice for sub slot as her unique/passive boosts HP allies’ HP stats by 30%. On top of more survibility through the increased HP, this also synergise well with Meliodas’s counter mechanics, since Meliodas will have more HP to lose to get off a bigger counter.
AlioniAlioni’s unique/passive gives HP allies 10% attack-related stats, improving the overall DPS of the team. If any of the main team heroes were to die, a decently geared Alioni can still tank a few hits with his taunt and dish out decent damage.
GowtherGowther is used in subslot for some variations of the clear comps. As mentioned above, he will be used to tank King in phase 2 and rank up cards.

Strategies and Tips (Ult Gauge Removal + Counter with Gowther sub team)

Phase 1

● Do not use counter at the start of the fight, save the counter card to combine into a rank 2 and use it when Meliodas is lower on health

● If King starts with 2 gold cards, rank down the gold card with Elaine

● Try to remove King’s ultimate gauge the turn before he’s about to ult, unless you are certain you can tank it and Meliodas will be able to get off a huge counter after the ult and follow up skill

● Try not to combine Merlin’s ult gauge removal because you might not get it back when you need it for 2 turns in a row and Elaine’s removal only works from rank 2 and above

● Do not stall for too long in phase 1 as your damage output will be lowered significantly once the Minion/Personas get 4 or more ultimate gauges and King will hit very hard with all the buffs

● After a few runs, you will be able to roughly judge how well your Meliodas can tank King’s hits and if the counter damage is enough to finish him off

● You can opt to roll for 1-2 lines of lifesteal on Meliodas’s gear so he can be self-sustainable when he gets off a huge counter

● Ideally, go into phase 2 with ultimate(s) and all units from main team survivingPhase 2

● Do not let King get his ult, his ult is almost 100% a team wipe, it is even more crucial in phase 2 to remove King’s ult gauge compared to phase 1

● No matter who dies on the main team in phase 2, the leftover units have the capability of finishing off King if he’s around 60% and below HP

Strategies and Tips (Pray to RNG team)

● This team will not be able to start first against extreme King

● Goal of the team is to have super good RNG and get a lot of counter cards for Gowther to upgrade before Gowther dies, and then hope that Meliodas doesn’t die from King in phase 2 and get off a huge counter to win the fight

How To Kill Diane

Use aoe skills like Lilia, Bellion/Zaratras and Blue Meli to kill the add-ons.
When an add-on dies, it reduces the defence on diane as well as the add-ons.
Use ult reducing skills like blue Lilia and Bellion
Try to do the highest damage at the second phase to burst her down by filling up your ult gauge on blue Meli, Bellion or Zaratras.
Some players use Escanor instead of Bellion.
